Job Role:

Ensure adequate trials are carried out following any maintenance. Liaise with Operations department to minimise impact of maintenance periods on operations
-Monitor craft performance, conduct periodical technical inspections of the vessels to ensure they are maintained in line with company expectations and implement any actions necessary to rectify defects or improve performance.
-Research and implement appropriate craft improvements.
-Provide ongoing coaching for technical staff to ensure they are competent to execute maintenance tasks and are familiar with, Company, Client and Statutory procedures. Provide input to technical staff appraisals. Assist in recruiting appropriately trained and experienced staff as necessary.

Routine Product Testing
The role is shift based and involves carrying out QC tests on finished dry PAM product to defined procedures. Routine testing includes testing viscosity, solubility, particle size, dry weight, residual acrylamide and product charge. Deviations must be reported to the Senior Laboratory Analyst and Technical Support Engineer immediately. All tests must be performed accurately, and all results recorded. The time for testing and releasing should be less than 24 hours (average).
The maintenance of the equipment plus preparation of reagents to perform these analyses is a key part of these duties.
Teamwork
The Laboratory Analyst assists the Senior Laboratory Analyst in the day-to–day activities.
The Laboratory Analyst communicates any defects in dry PAM’s directly to the Technical Support Engineer and the Senior Laboratory Analyst.
Data Entry
Entry of analysis results into Laboratory spreadsheet and SAP is required.
Housekeeping and Sample Management
The routine housekeeping of the Laboratory, including retaining samples of every blend produced and storing these in a manner in which they are easily recoverable is part of this role.
Effluent Sample Analysis
Operation of the HPLC equipment for the analysis of effluent samples needs to be done accurately. Other analyses of the effluent samples may be required.
Non-routine
The Laboratory Analyst will deputise for the Senior Laboratory Analyst where necessary, and provide cover for absence of staff on the other shift.
The QC department will provide a resource for non-routine testing of special trial samples generated by either the Technical and/or Production Department, and the customer complaint investigation process.
Other Areas
Any other work as directed by the Laboratory Team Leader, Technical Manager or deputy in times of absence from site.
This includes reasonable requests for tasks within the scope of the role and the abilities/capabilities of the individual that are not specifically identified in the above.
Working Experience and Education:
EDUCATION
Essential - Degree in Chemistry or equivalent.
Desirable - Safety qualification
Continuous Improvement experience
Numeracy and Literacy qualifications to a high level.
EXPERIENCE
Essential – Experience of HPLC analysis and knowledge of other methods used within the chemical industry.
Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
Desirable - Some previous QA experience on a production line.
