+ Provide input on design strategy and conceptual design relative to mechanical installations.

+ Undertake design calculations relevant to the design of mechanical installations within major building projects.

+ Design mechanical installations including the production of design drawings, diagrams and schematics along with project specifications and schedules.

+ Design mechanical installations to meet all existing, relevant British Standards, Building Regulations and other relevant standards.

+ Design mechanical installations to meet requirements for energy efficiency and low carbon requirements.

+ Work as part of a team to meet project brief and programme requirements.

+ Support senior members of staff in client and design team relationships. Understand client needs and interpret and confirm the project brief.
+ Act as IT support in providing PC based support for the office.

Training Programme requirements:

+ Commit to goals and objectives of career development programme including attendance of in-house and external technical and non-technical training.

+ Commit to achieving or maintaining Chartered Engineer status through relevant professional institution.

+ Support the development of team members and undertake the mentoring of members of the engineering team.

Qualifications:

• BEng, BSc in relevant engineering subject, e.g. Architectural Engineering, Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• Experience:
• Demonstrable project management skills.
• Software skills including: Hevacomp, CAD, Barbour Index, Specification Expert, Microsoft Office.
• Experience in CAD drafting systems, e.g. AutoCAD
• Candidates for this position would be expected to demonstrate suitable experience in a similar role.
• MEng or MSc in relevant engineering subject, e.g. Architectural Engineering, Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• Specialist interests or qualifications, e.g. renewable energy, low carbon design, BREEAM, lighting design, LCC registration or other relevant topic
• Experience in Modelling software, e.g. IES
• CompTIA certificate in desktop
