OVERVIEW
Our client is embarking on an ambitious programme of converting its current examinations from pen and paper to Computer Based Exams (CBE).
It is imperative that focus is placed on aspects of reliability, such as comparability of exam difficulty between different versions of exams and to make enhancements in the use of psychometric data. In addition, exams regulators globally are increasingly expecting psychometrics and supporting statistical analysis to be used in quantifying this. It is likely that this area will influence the regulatory approval process of qualifications in the future.
It is the expectation that the examination statistician will be crucial to both:
the successful interaction of our client and its CBE supplier team of psychometricians, and
the process being used for paper based exam development and performance measurement for both the exam and students attempting these exams
As such the exam statistician will help to inform the quality of current and future exam content, while also maintaining the security of questions and exams, ensuring comparability when multiple versions of an exam are available.
