My client is a progressive and forward thinking company who are a market leader in their field. They are looking to recruit a talented and personable IT professional (degree qualified) with a proven track record as an Applications Developer.
My client is looking for strong Oracle or Microsoft SQL VB.NET and Crystal Reporting experience. The right candidate will have 3 years plus IT experience in a financial institution (preferably Insurance) ideally with a knowledge of broker back office systems.
However, the most important characteristics for this role is the ability to communicate with technical and non technical colleagues based at multi-sited locations. In addition, you will need to be flexible/adaptable, innovative and good problem solving skills.
The main objective of the role is to support live service of in-house and 3rd party applications within multi-sited business divisions; design and develop solutions to provide additional reports and enhanced functionality.
Responsibilities will include the following:
* Database administration including backups, restores, security requirements, patching, upgrades etc.
* Assist the business in production of reports and import/export routines
* Solution development and maintenance using VB.NET and SQL
* Root cause analysis of reported issues and bug fixing
