An AIT product Assebmbly Engineer is required for a 6 month contract role based in Portsmouth, paying £24.00 p/hr - Limited Company Rate, DOE.
Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of satellite systems. Their activities cover complete civil and military telecommunications and Earth observation systems, science and navigation programmes, together with avionics and a wide range of space equipment and associated ground infrastructure.
To provide the Mechanical Engineering inputs, based on robust processes and procedures, for the production of Satellite Communications Modules, and Scientific payloads. Must be prepared to travel at 48 hours notice to other European and UK sites - primarily Toulouse or Rome
Shift work may include nights and weekends.
There is an expectation that the successful candidate will initially work in Portsmouth for familiarisation
Portsmouth Portsmouth working may initially be normal days Monday to Friday for a period of familiarisation, however, there is an expectation that the programme will require shift work which is expected to be 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 night on and 4 nights off. Day shifts will run from 06:00 to 18:00 or 07:00 to 19:00 and nights shifts will run from 18:00 to 06:00 or 19:00 to 07:00. A shift uplift of 20% will be paid for shift hours between 06:00 and 22:00 and 33% for shift hours between 22:00 and 06:00.
Qualificatins/skills ·Minimum of HNC level in a Mechanical discipline. A lesser qualification is acceptable if a high level of similar industry experience can be demonstrated.
Essential experienced required ·Good understanding and detailed experience of all types of mechanical systems. Including but not limited to :- oLean Manuafcturing Techniques including 5S, root cause analysis and continuous improvement oSupport to production oMechanical Processes including Detailed assembly and fitting. oThermal Engineering. oMechanical handling equipment. ·High Mech skills and relevant experience - satellite payload integration. ·Procedures and process control. ·Quality driven approach. ·Experience in writing Engineering documents. ·Good planning skills and process competence, P6. ·Previous experience of Telecoms payload builds ·Experience of Lean engineering ·Clean room experience ·Aerospace Experience ·Mech design / validation / experience ·FMEA Experience ·Knowledge of Continuous Improvement philosophies ·Knowledge of Health and Safety principles and their application to the specific environment ·Rudimentary understanding of RF properties and associated risks.
Project Preparation phase ·Support to the customisation phase starting at the project kick off (As Required). ·Manage the creation of all documentation required for the production phases, including the Routings (Assembly Sequence), Work Instructions, and Procedures. ·Define the assembly sequence based on the routings to optimise the overall Project schedule in Primevera P6 ·Produce timely documentation to support critical handling activities. ·To define/design and monitor the production of all additional Mechanical Ground Support Equipment required for the production phase. ·Ensure that specific product requirements, taken from the Packing, Handling and Transport Specification, are captured and included in work instructions and procedures. ·Confirm GSE availability and coordinate delivery in line with schedule. ·Inputs to preparation GO meeting (Production weekly Meetings). ·Technical Input to project to ensure that new process and test methods do not compromise AIT activities and production times. (Design for Manufacture / Assembly & Design for Test). ·Responsible for ensuring that our working modes and processes are standardised, optimised, and current. ·Supporting the Assembly Engineering team with new processes, process improvements and the skill requirements. ·Design of Tooling / build Aids for Assembly execution
Project Operational phase ·Continuous monitoring of the schedule with the schedulers and Integration Manager to obtain the optimum sequence when unplanned work is necessary. ·Technical liaison with all concerned stakeholders, i.e. lead investigations and IOR resolution & operational support. ·Support quality reviews and Root Cause Analysis ·Support panel and Central Structure Delivery Review Boards. ·Maintenance of GSE documentation throughout the project. ·Act as the Project Safety Engineer during critical handling activities. ·Participation in the shipping process, and co ordination with logistics. ·Specify Mechanical Engineering input readiness state in Go meeting and attend as necessary. ·Review Work Orders ensuring that the required information is present and that all tooling and materials are available. Produce Re-work instructions based on project requirements, and issue them correctly to the clean room.

A Project Accountant is required to work for one of the world leaders in the design and manufacture of satellite systems, based in Portsmouth. This role entails being responsible for a number of projects and includes: being accountable for monitoring and reporting the financial progress of projects, investigating variances, approving payments and expenses, ensuring that project billings are issued and payments collected, keeping accurate project financial records, handling client questions and inquiries and involves working closely with Project Managers and Project Controllers to identify ways to improve profitability of the project and reduce risks.
Essential Skills & Experience ·Demonstrable experience in project accounting. ·Part Qualified / Qualified Accountant ·Strong computer skills, including intermediate excel spreadsheets experience and word processing. ·Experience of using SAP Business system or similar business system. ·Be detail-oriented and extremely organized. ·Experience of staff management. ·Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities. ·Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills. ·Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion. ·Employ problem-solving skills and analysis, and report problems to the Manager, as necessary.
