Job Summary
The Infotainment System Specialist is the technical lead for the specification, development, qualification and delivery of in-car Infotainment Systems; ensuring that the system meets customer requirements and that the supplier delivers the required technical solution to ensure high levels of quality, functionality and user experience.
Ideally the successful applicant will have had wide experience with automotive infotainment systems and be technically capable in all areas, including the graphical user environment, embedded operating systems, electronic hardware design and core features including satellite navigation, media interfacing, audio, radio, Bluetooth and hands-free operation with noise reduction.
Base skills required
*Specification, development and delivery of automotive infotainment systems. *Customisation of the menu and graphical user interface for the infotainment system, including portrait displays. *Embedded operating systems for use in automotive infotainment environments (Windows Compact Embedded, Android, QNX). *Firmware, operating system, application and media updates in-the-field, especially within the automotive context. *Satellite navigation engines, including maps, traffic information, text to speech and dead-reckoning technologies. *Bluetooth connection, communication protocols and services, including obtaining certification and demonstrating device compliance. *Hands-free voice systems, including AEC and noise reduction technologies, including testing, development and optimisation. *Connectivity to a variety of media devices and able to organise, present, search and manage media within an automotive environment. *WiFi and internet access from the Infotainment Environment. *Technically capable of advising on the hardware requirements to support the Infotainment System, in terms of CAN communication, sensors required for deadreckoning and the various antennas and interfaces required to support in-vehicle infotainment features and functions.
Additional skills / Experience required
*Infotainment System specification and requirements management. *GUI development with Silverlight, XAML, Expression Blend, or Java *Embedded RTOS for infotainment devices (Windows CE, Android, QNX) *Bluetooth protocols (Embedded BT V3, HCI, L2CAP, RFCOM, SDP, OBEX, HFP 0.96 - 1.0, SAP, GAP, MAP, Phone Book, HCI Read Encryption) *Wi-Fi Alliance / Wi-Fi Certified, IEEE 802.11b/g, WPS, WPA2, WPA *Hands-free AEC and noise suppression systems, tuning and optimisation. *GPS, Inertial Guidance, Traffic Information (TMC), Voice Synthesis and tuning (TTS). *Radio systems (Antenna, Tuner, RDS, TMC and EMC)
Educational requirements
Honours degree (preferably 1st or upper 2nd) in Electronic or Software Engineering.
