Key Tasks & Accountabilities

To provide Oracle RDBMS and Microsoft SQL support for existing test and production databases.
Working closely with the External IT Technical Architect and the Data Centre Hosting Manager to ensure that new business bids have optimum database design before they are committed to production.
To ensure that database expertise is available to support internal/external projects and the current production environments.
To ensure that effective support documentation exists to cover off the database production environment.
To be responsible for installation, setup and support of Oracle RDBMS and Microsoft SQL server technologies within the Data Centres and remote locations.
To ensure that all Oracle/SQL databases have a tried and tested multi level recovery model so that data can be recovered in every circumstance.
To technically vet all new projects raising any technical concerns at an early stage.
To have a clear understanding of the role of database management within the organisation and to ensure that technical project office staff adhere to the rules.
To work with the DR and Change Manager to ensure that business continuity plans for databases are adequately tested and are made more effective ongoing.

Skills Essential:

Track record of managing a large Oracle and SQL footprint in a medium/large scale professional services organisation.
Familiar with best practice ITIL Database Administration process and procedures.
Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist.
Good understanding of client/server application deployment in particular UAT and performance testing.
Excellent service and inter-personal skills evidenced in a professional services environment including business and technical problem solving, dealing with difficult or conflicting requirements and negotiation.
Ability to work unsupervised and to tight deadlines while still producing high quality output.
Excellent technology expertise as applied to business processes. Knowledge Essential:

Excellent knowledge of server operating systems including Windows Server 2003 and 2008
Excellent knowledge of Oracle RDBMS and SQL Server technologies.
Up to date knowledge of current and future technology trends Preferred:

I am looking to recruit a permanent Senior Infrastructure Support Engineer to provide a high level of infrastructure hardware/software support. A good level of IT infrastructure knowledge and experience is essential as the primary responsibility of the position is to provide an excellent level of support to internal users and other team members. Project implementation and management experience is also essential as the position will involve the delivery of IT projects in a technical lead or project management capacity.

Duties will include,

To be a key resource on the implementation of new technical IT infrastructure for customers and internal IT requirements.
To design and plan technical solutions with IT Project managers.
The provision of 3rd Level support of the IT infrastructure and all internal systems and services as defined by the IT Projects Manager.

Keep up to date with new relevant technologies as they are emerging.
Assisting IT Projects Office Manager with the investigation, planning and implementation of on-going projects as directed.
Writing and maintaining documentation, such as handover, technical procedures and diagrams as requested.
Provide technical and other 3rd line support to all IT staff members as and when requested.
Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by the IT Projects Office Manager.
Project management may be required for smaller implementations where a dedicated project manager is not required. Experience needed,

Minimum 5 years' experience working in a similar senior IT support role
MCSE/MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / CCNA or other appropriate IT professional qualifications. (MCSA:2003 Minimum )
Sound knowledge of Implementing high availability using Microsoft , Cisco and VMware technologies
Experience of implementing Microsoft architecture and management technologies including Active Directory, Exchange Server, ISA Server, Operations Manager, SMS
Detailed understanding of Cisco networking including firewalls, switching, routing and load balancing
Understanding of Storage Area Network (SAN) Technologies
Good working knowledge of virtualisation on VMware ESX
ITSM / ITIL / Prince2 or equivalent desirable Advantageous IT Professional Qualifications and experience
