Sussex
A specialist energy company providing engineering services including feasibility studies, financing for projects, energy procurement, installation and commission plus ongoing maintenance of installations is recruiting for an operations support engineer, principally working on the development of major District Energy Schemes. Projects will include:
Combined heat & power (CHP) plant.
Conventional heating and cooling plant (boilers, chillers and ancillary HVAC equipment).
District heating & cooling pipe infrastructure.
Metering and control stations.
CHP associated electrical power plant and distribution
Responsibilities
Support the Operations Director at an operational and strategic level in order to deliver excellence in all operations functions
Make qualitative analysis of the reporting and performance of operations contracts
Support the Contract Managers in developing and meeting key performance indicators and contract compliance measures
Assist in financial modelling, forecasting and reporting
Undertake specific continuous improvement initiatives and projects within the operations function
Support specific operational teams to deliver improvements within challenging timescales and environments
Implement business decisions and strategies at all levels within the operations function
Support the operations function in specific and ad hoc projects
Build and sustain effective relationships with Clients, ensuring reporting requirements are met or exceeded
Identify and deliver cost savings to the business wherever possible
Internal and External Customer satisfaction
Delivery of all projects to agreed deadlines and budgets
Ability to respond pragmatically to varied business needs
Experience and skills required
A passion for business excellence
Educated to at least degree level within an engineering discipline, preferable mechanical or electrical
The ability to drive through self-managed projects and achieve deadlines
Communication and influencing skills
Numerate with strong pc skills particularly excel and word (MS Access desirable)

A specialist energy consultancy offering services in procurement, analysis and carbon management to major energy users throughout the UK is looking to appoint a Risk Analyst at their Suffolk office to monitor energy markets and advise clients on risk.
Responsibilities
Managing exposure to energy markets through development of strategies and active wholesale trading
Managing client alerts, providing support, advice and interpretation.
Arranging and attending regular review meetings to discuss current market conditions, existing exposures and trading strategies.
Monitor market movements for electricity and related commodities
Identify and analyse data to help predict future market developments.
Develop new contacts to help improve the companys market knowledge
Providing alerts when actions are required
Liaising with clients to ensure that declared trading strategy and risk management policy is being applied effectively.
Support clients directly with their own Risk Management or trading for them with delegated authority.
Analyse market data, price history and fundamentals to develop potential trading strategies to support Risk Management clients.
General consultancy support which might include CHP issues, contract extensions, amalgamation of contracts, advice on suppliers.
Skills
Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (economics, business, mathematics etc)
Experience of Trading UK electricity and/or gas (essential)
Knowledge of the UK/European energy markets
Familiarity with Reuters an advantage
Excellent client facing communication and presentation skills
Developed negotiating skills
Able to remain calm under pressure
Sufficiently mobile and flexible to travel within the UK

An independent consulting practice to the international mining industry is seeking a Principal Level Social Consultant to lead and carry out SIA and stakeholder liaison meetings on mining development projects throughout the world.
Responsibilities:
Project manage social and other specialist environmental studies
Manage the social and environmental aspects of mining project development studies
Business development with new and existing customers
Lead teams of consultant and senior level staff
Stakeholder engagement
Socio-economic impact assessment
Corporate social responsibility due diligence
Social liabilities evaluation
Prepare socio-economic management, resettlement and community development plans
Review SIA reports and social management plans
Responsible for managing projects: information control, planning and programming of works, commercial and contractual control, procurement, ensuring progress meetings are undertaken, production of progress and financial reports, close liaison with the client and their representatives, safety and quality control
Report writing
Proposal preparation, identification of subcontractors, budget preparation and liaison with client representatives
Skills and Experience required:
Degree or equivalent in a social discipline, preferably with a postgraduate degree in a social discipline
Fluency in French preferred as much of the work will be in Africa
International social project experience
Experience of creating large SIAs (internationally ideally) and contributing to project development studies
Knowledge of the Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards, plus other international best practice
Experience across various environmental disciplines including air, water, geochemistry, noise, biodiversity/ecology and awareness of how these relate to socio-economic situations
Excellent project management experience
Excellent report and proposal writing skills.
Strong team leading experience
Business development experience and ability, as this is a major part of this role
Strong IT skills with MS office and other software packages
Ability and enthusiasm to travel extensively on an international basis
