We are wishing to recruit a new Laboratory Manager for a service provider to the food and drink industry. We are looking for a candidate who has ideally held either this position within a routine microbiology environment or someone who has a solid record of supervision of staff and organisation of work flow within a busy environment.
The salary for the position will be approximately £19 - £21K, plus a shift allowance of £2.2 - 2.5K, dependent upon experience. Plating Shop Technician
Location – Somerset
Salary - between £13-£16K depending on previous relevant experience.
Pay frequency is on a weekly basis.

• Ensuring that bath temperatures, pH, filtration, agitation, rinse flow rates and other process variables are as specified and correcting where necessary • Maintaining plating blanks in a good, clean condition ready for re-use • Operating and maintaining the effluent treatment plant so that our effluent is maintained within our current consent to discharge limits • Cleaning out plating tanks as required • Making chemical additions to the plating solutions • Ensuring that chemicals are moved to the correct store both on arrival and after use • Keeping the Chemical Store clean and tidy and ensuring good stock rotation • Assist with production activities as required • Assist with plating related projects as required • Casting of plating anodes to the required standard • Maintaining filter pumps, carboy pumps and other plating equipment in a good state of repair • Fulfilling role of Plating Team Member when requested • Provide maintenance cover for the Team Leader when absent
Participation in the Company’s continual improvement programs will also be required along with any other reasonable duties requested by the Company
Applicants should ideally hold a minimum of GCSE (or equivalent) in Chemistry. A basic knowledge in the field of Metal Finishing Technology would be especially useful but full training will be provided as necessary. This is an opportunity for long term self development.
Previous experience of working in a production environment is preferred where you will have gained experience of process control systems.

We are looking to recruit a Machinist for a well established Engineering company. You will be working in the machine shop producing and assembling components and products from drawings for customers and production. You will be operating and controlling various machinery including lathes, mills and horizontal boring machines and you maybe required to run the CNC machines. You may also be required to undertake some welding work This role is initially a temporary position however may go permanent for the right person. Working hours 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday - There may be overtime available

Technical Manager Food Industry

Reporting to the Technical Director, you will play a key part in the Senior Management team. You will ensure that food safety is assured through interpretation, application and review of appropriate site policy and control mechanisms. Clear communication action plans are to be devised throughout the factory by interpretation of laboratory results/organoleptic results/customer complaints
Provide development, direction and support to 10 direct reports involving QA, Raw Materials and Quality Systems. Review through departmental and individual KPIs.
Full control of departmental expenditure.
The technical manager will be the main point of contact for all external customers and enforcement bodies as well as customer contact for all general food safety, legal and quality standards
You will ultimately be responsible for developing the Technical strategy for the site whilst ensuring effective day to day delivery.
Challenge hygiene and procedural standards through effective auditing
Maintain and develop raw material supply approval and methodologies to monitor key supplier performance
Liaise with NPD to ensure that products are taken from concept to launch in a controlled manner considering food safety, allergen management and consistency of visual quality attributes.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Previous Technical management experience
Excellent level of IT literacy, particularly Excel
Able to prioritise workload to achieve challenging deadlines
previous experience of working within a fast-paced chilled environment
Commercially adept
KNOWLEDGE/QULIFICATIONS:
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a food related discipline
Lead Auditor
Advanced HACCAP
