As the Technical Authority, you'll take ownership of the development and maintenance of pipeline and subsea engineering processes.
The Role As the Technical Authority for the Pipeline and Subsea Systems division you'll be responsible for the development and maintenance of Pipeline and Subsea engineering processes, procedures and guidance. You'll define competency requirements for the business unit and will assist in the competency assessment and training requirements of personnel. You'll act as a custodian for all discipline procedures and will provide technical leadership and guidance to the division. You'll provide technical consultancy directly to clients and will perform engineering analysis and assessments. Additionally you'll provide an input into tenders and proposals and CTR's.
You Ideally you'll be educated to MSc or degree level within a Pipeline or Subsea Engineering discipline or you'll have the equivalent experience within a Pipeline / Subsea Engineering field. Ideally you'll have experience in the inspection or integrity arena and you'll have previous supervisory experience. You'll have a knowledge of oil and gas component failure mechanisms and repair options. Additionally you'll be a confident communicator and will have previous client management liaison experience.

Responsibilities in this role will include:- Design, manage or implement as applicable corrosion control strategy covering corrosion monitoring and inspection activities including preparation and delivery of annual and periodic reports, corrosion status of systems, identification and assessment of significant trends from surveys. Provide authoritative technical assessment and interpretation of corrosion /inspection monitoring data and recommend changes in corrosion criticality analyses and monitoring/inspection programmes where appropriate. Provide corrosion expertise to and effectively interact with multi-disciplinary RBI or other process groups for which the post holder has designated responsibilities Procure and provide all relevant data to CAD/ Draughting personnel for database maintenance purposes. In particular, ensure effective interfaces are developed and maintained with chemical and other specialist contractors. Undertake or co-ordinate failure investigations into material and corrosion issues in accordance with prescribed or approved failure investigation procedures. Participate in and provide input to the regular review of corrosion management information such as Corrosion Control Matrices and Key Performance Indicators. Set up and chair corrosion and integrity management review meetings and coordinate actions arising. Provide technical leadership and authority in designated corrosion engineering disciplines.
The ideal candidate will be degree qualified (or equivalent) in corrosion engineering, or a related engineering discipline. You will be a successful corrosion practitioner with experience in the oil and gas or related industries, with a sound knowledge of relevant plant, process or production chemistry, and structural and process materials properties. Ideally you will be Chartered or working towards chartered status.

Some experience in geotechnical engineering and foundation design is also desirable Ideally have Experience of producing detailed calculations to the above codes - using traditional and computer-based methods of analysis (e.g. S-Frame, ANSYS FEA) The successful candidate will be expected to write design specifications, data specifications and civil design loading specifications for consultants to carry out the required design work.
