Assistant Project Manager / Project Support Engineer (MC730)
Location: North East - Newcastle
£30K - £35K Basic + 5.5% Pension + 25 Days Holiday + Public Holidays + Benefits
COMPANY
As an International organisation with manufacturing sites across the globe, my client have become well recognised as an innovator in the design and manufacture of high specification solutions and bespoke components for the Oil & Gas market.
POSITION
Reporting to the Project Manager you will be responsible for assisting with the management of multiple projects. Typical duties will involve supporting the Project Manager in:-
Arranging and attending various project meetings including Bid Clarification, Sales Order Handover, Supply & Production, Kick Off etc.
Creating and maintaining a project action and risk register
Monitoring both internal and supplier agreements to ensure due dates are achieved
Preparing and submitting variation orders
Delivering to client expectations whilst minimising business risk and costs, taking opportunities to improve project profitability while maintaining and developing customer relations
Ensuring projects meet internal and client expectations with respect to quality, budget, delivery time and strategy.
Identifying, tracking, managing and mitigating risk. Escalating any issues when necessary to ensure there is minimal impact on the project.
PERSON
To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, you will ideally have a HNC, HND or Degree within Mechanical Engineering or an affiliated discipline. However my client is willing to consider candidates without qualifications, if they can demonstrate a proven track record operating in a similar role within the engineering sector.
The successful candidate will possess Project Management / Project Support experience and be comfortable meeting service delivery targets, controlling a budget, preparing tender documents, bill of quantities and estimates.
You must have a customer focused approach with clear communication and presentation skills.

With solid engineering expertise and advanced manufacturing facilities, my client has become a market leader in the design, manufacture and supply of specialist engineered components to the UK and International market.
POSITION
As an important member of the engineering team you will be responsible for:-
Producing practical CAD drawings and designs within strict deadlines
Providing and supporting cost effective and fit for purpose designs that meet customer requirements.
Justifying the correct design balance between acceptable functionality, quality and cost.
Creating Bills of Materials for your designs
Providing detailed designs specifications arising from the project brief
The design of whole products, sub systems and individual components
Preparing Design calculations from technical specifications
PERSON
The successful candidate MUST have a degree in Engineering and be familiar with mechanical engineering principles and design calculations.
You must have a minimum of 2 years proven experience in a Design Engineering role, possess clear communication skills and be comfortable using 3D CAD Software.
Any experience using SolidWorks would be highly beneficial, but not essential.
Along with the above you must be a team player and be comfortable working within a fast paced environment.

As a Senior Project Engineer you will work within dedicated project teams and be responsible for:-
Ensuring customer enquiries are dealt with efficiently and any information required is produced in good time to meet contract delivery
Preparing and issuing project designs, drawings, calculations, Bill Of Materials (BOM), Procedures, Manuals and other project related documentation
Ensuring all departments Technical, Project and Quality liaise closely to address any aspects of the order received
Supervising other team members
Ensuring projects meet internal and client expectations with respect to quality, budget, delivery time and strategy.
Identifying, tracking, managing and mitigating risk. Escalating any issues when necessary to ensure there is minimal impact on the project.
Discuss ongoing status of live projects in project review meetings
PERSON
To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, you MUST possess proven success as a Project Engineer ideally operating in the Oil/Gas, Subsea, Marine, Power or an affiliated sector.
You must have proven success managing small to large engineering projects and be self motivated and customer focused with the ability to work under pressure to deliver bespoke engineering solutions.
You will also possess fantastic leadership, communication and presentation skills and be comfortable working to tight financial budgets whilst maintaining quality and customer standards.
A HNC, HND or Degree within Mechanical Engineering would be highly beneficial.
