Configuration Engineer / Product Structure Controller Location - Derby Rate - £24 - £30 p/h (Dependant on experience) Duration - 6 Months + An opportunity exists for a Product Structure Controller to work within Assystem on projects with our main client on gas turbine engines. The Product Structure Controller is responsible for the data transfer between sites, electronic 3D model translation and verification and configuration management. The role will involve providing support to Project Managers providing configuration technical guidance writing CMPs Change Processes and other procedures. You will also be responsible for maintaining the engine structure and Bill of Materials. Previous experience of externals engineering would be advantageous. You will have the following essential skills: *Product structure and assembly modelling *Preparing detail drawings/models and basic design schemes *Creating parts in PDM and submission to PLM/SAP *Supporting external design houses in seed part creation *Loading and updating parts back to Team Centre *Unigraphics NX Experience *Team Centre (Siemens) - ESSENTIAL *Knowledge of collaborative engineering and Product Structures *Knowledge of aero engines *Knowledge of data translation and data formats *Attention to detail Aircraft experience of configuration engineering and change control. You will be a competent person with knowledge of Product Structure PDM and MS Office applications.

Manufacturing Engineer Location - Hucknall, Nottingham Contract - 6 Months + Rate - £27 - £29 p/h Managing tooling specifications design and management for new and replacement fixtures for aerospace parts. You will be working with current teams to define new requirements whilst involving suppliers and others in creating specifications for tooling design and managing the successful introduction onto the shop floor. Global Non-Conformance Reduction Team Lead Assystem UK are currently seeking a Global Non-Conformance Reduction Team Lead to manage multi-disciplinary, technical projects within our extremely busy Gas Turbine division. This is a key position within our Producibility department and will see the successful candidate taking a lead role in the management of Non-Conformance Reduction (NCR) projects in the UK and Germany. This is a client facing role and you will be required to attend regular meetings with both internal and external stakeholders at a senior level within the UK and internationally. Responsibilities: *Provide a second to none service to our client at a senior level acting as point of contact for new and existing Non Conformance Reduction projects *Maximisation of new project opportunities *Responsibility for the efficient management and delivery of projects in terms of timescale budgetary and technical performance. *Liaison with project Technical Lead Engineers to ensure that adequate staff levels of the appropriate disciplines are allocated to the project to ensure specified timescale and quality standards are achieved. *Project review meetings on the progress of projects in terms of timescale technical matters and budget. *Assessing and documenting the risks on the projects and monitoring the implementation of the mitigation actions where these have been defined. *Management of engineering staff who undertake technical investigations, sentencing of non-conformance concession requests and drawing alteration requests for Gas Turbine components as part of the clients manufacturing process Background & Experience: Due to the importance of this role the successful candidate will be a highly organised, process driven individual form a Technical Project Management background. Role Description / Responsibilities Working within Assystem a DAR Investigator's role is to investigate DARs raised by manufacturing plants across the UK and Europe. The successful candidates will undertake a technical assessment for each component with regard to fit, form and function in order to accept or reject a component DAR. *Undertake technical investigations of DARs for gas turbine components as part of the clients manufacturing process. *This will involve a comparison of the manufactured components to the component drawing and an investigation into the impact of DAR. *Following your investigation you will be required to create a clear and concise written technical assessment and offer a detailed recommendation for the acceptance or rejection. *The use of illustrated part catalogues, design standards and drawing lay outs will assist in performing this task. *You will hold technical discussions with component specialists on a variety of topics from aerodynamics, thermal analysis, material assessment and general design principles. *You will liaise with our client's project seniors and component specialists from design, stress, aerodynamics, thermals and development to provide face to face support as and when required. Desirable Experience / Knowledge / Skills In order to be considered for this role, candidates will have worked within a similar position investigating and making amendments to designs of mechanical components. In addition to this, candidates will possess strong reporting and communication skills as these positions will require the individuals to converse with Senior Engineers from Assystem and Rolls Royce. Design / DAR Engineer Location - Inchinnan, Glasgow Duration - 12 Months Rate - £24 - £26 p/h This position represents an opportunity to join a new cross-functional team focused on the support of Rolls Royce Inchinnan, Compressors Domestic Supply Chain. The focus will be on day-to-day operational support, plant improvements, Concession support/advice, Drawing Alteration support/advice and cost reduction. You will be located on the Inchinnan site, Glasgow as part of a team focused on Producibility improvements - covering Cost, Quality & Delivery. Key Accountabilities Concessions / Production Permits Drive annual reduction in concessions on aerofoil commodities, both Single Ended Aerofoils and Double Ended Aerofoils. Improvement Lead To initiate and facilitate cross functional team investigations addressing non-conformance issues. Definition Alteration Requests Advise and assist Supply Chain on the raising of DAR's to reduce concessions and achieve Right First Time targets together with the identification of alternative solutions should potential design-led improvement initiatives subsequently be found to be unviable (i.e. what to do when DAR's are rejected). Quality Support and advise the plant with investigations into failures in Quality to determine root cause and lessons learnt. Compressor Gold Standards Implement / update gold standards on all strategic aerofoil commodities in support of cost and quality targets. Compressors Aerofoil Acceptance standard RQSG11X Revise / update as required to capture improvements in support of Producibility. Unit Cost reduction Drive Commodity unit and life-cycle cost reduction through both design engineering and manufacturing engineering changes to continuously improve Design/Make solutions. Enabling effective cost reduction requires a good understanding of design processes and best practice, knowledge of different manufacturing techniques (historical and advanced) and knowledge of commercial costs associated with change. Cost rate Reduce Manufacturing and Design Engineering charges to the plants via concession reduction and timely support to manufacturing issues. Right First Time Support to key projects to deliver dimensional & Visual RFT Plant Support To be the focal point for owning and championing the "process" of plant support activity for Compressor Engineering. To articulate what the Design Engineering function needs to do to support the plant. Consideration needs to be given to the historical steady-state performance (concessions, DAR's and FPA's) and the impact of change (RFT improvement programme, transfers, NPI, audits, etc.). In addition, act as Design authority on behalf of the Chief of Commodity for the following: Required Experience / Knowledge Capable of working independently and proactively. Able to demonstrate relevant Engineering and Manufacturing Technical competence. Understand role limitation and when escalation is required. Be sympathetic of manufacturing's problems whilst protecting designs intent but guaranteeing mechanical integrity on all decisions. Be comfortable around higher management with strong inter-personal and communication skills. Be able to influence and negotiate pragmatic solutions. Having a strong improvement focus you will be tenacious and able to deal with conflict. Previous experience of leading groups would be advantageous. Be able to identify key stakeholders when leading change. Relevant Engineering and technical Product understanding of Compressor Commodity parts plus an understanding of the design/make processes within RR would be beneficial. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required when updating specifications and guides (Gold Standards).
