Our client, a prestigious dealership based in North West London are looking to recruit a Dealership Accountant to join their team. Please note there will be 2 dealership accountants for the division with some tasks shared and others not. PURPOSE OF THE JOB • To maintain the companies accounting function. • To produce monthly management accounts and meet other group and statutory reporting requirements. POSITION IN ORGANISATION • Reporting to the Divisional Accountant. To co-operate with other members of the division’s management team and assist as necessary. MAIN TASKS • To prepare the monthly management accounts, review with dealership management and submit to Group within the agreed timetables. • To assist in the preparation of the weekly profit forecasts, review with dealership management and submit to Group within the agreed timetables. • To complete and submit composite data for manufacturers as required in line with their input deadlines. • To reconcile the bank account on a daily basis. • To set up or authorise bank payments as necessary. • To produce and distribute daily aftersales DOC. • To reconcile and review all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis. • To process and manage all aspects of the divisional payroll function • To prepare the VAT return. • To assist the divisional management team in the preparation of annual budgets. • Carry out physical vehicle stock checks on a quarterly basis and reconcile to control accounts. • Supervise the purchase ledger, cashier and credit control roles within the accounts department to include the management and appraisal of staff. • Review the purchase ledger reconciliations and payment runs and also review the ledger monthly for unauthorised invoices, payments on account and debit balances. • Review sales ledger reconciliations, bad debt provision, and payment on account. • To attend management meetings as required. Such meetings could be at any location within the Division or Group • To prepare full and half year accounts packs for submission to Group and deal with audit visits and queries from the Group Auditors . • To organise and lead credit control meetings on a monthly basis or more frequently if required. • To download and post warranty credit notes. • To process direct credits and debits from manufacturers. • To maintain the fixed asset register • To maintain the accrual module on Autoline and process accruals monthly. • To monitor daily exception reports from the Autoline system and deal with issues as they arise. • To monitor the divisions working capital and assist the management team in the day to day management of cash debt, vehicle debt, fully paid stock, warranty debt etc. • To maintain the orderly and timely filing of all documentation relating to this role, including national statistics. • To ensure that the tidiness, cleanliness and security of the accounts department are maintained at all times. • To fulfil any ad hoc duties in relation to the administration of the accounts department as may be required by the Divisional Accountant. • To maintain good working relationships with other staff and to provide cover for other staff in the department in the event of holiday, sickness or other absence • To maintain personal appearance in accordance with company policy. • To visit the other group sites in the Division as necessary in order to perform the role. • Endeavour to resolve customer or supplier queries in a courteous and efficient manner.
