An opportunity has arisen for a Corrugator Manager to join us at our DS Smith Packaging site in Livingston, Scotland. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Corrugator Manager will be a key member of the Operations Team, who are responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the factory through all departments whilst conforming to the required quality and health and safety standards, operating as efficiently as possible. The Corrugator Manager will be responsible for all aspects of team management and will supervise the Corrugator Charge Hands; ensuring productivity targets are achieved in order to meet the needs of the customer. If the above sounds like you and as an individual you strive for complete customer satisfaction, zero defects and on time test results then you could be the Lab Technician for us… What being a Laboratory Technician at DS Smith will involve: Your main duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: • Carrying out weekly routine corrugated board and case testing and ensure all data is accurately entered into the Divisional data collection software • Carrying out routine testing on paper samples supplied by the DS Smith Packaging plants for supplier performance assessment • Maintaining accurate records of receipt for all board and case samples supplied for testing within the PACE program and all paper samples supplied for routine testing. • Highlighting any plants that deviate from the sampling plans and required specification of sample submission • Issuing automated monthly quality analysis reports to the departmental managers for both the PACE Program and the Divisional Paper Testing Program • Carrying out ad hoc testing on paper, board and cases in relation to laboratory calibration exercises, performance enquiries, technical complaints and customer/supplier development activities • Providing technical reports on testing outcomes as required by the departmental managers • Assisting the Senior Laboratory Technician and Central Laboratory Manager with the general running and administration of the Central Laboratory • Assisting in maintaining the Central Laboratory status as a UKAS accredited laboratory • Complying with, and proactively promoting, the Central Laboratory’s high 5s standards What we would like our candidate to have… The successful individual will have GCSE’s in Mathematics and English, be proficient in all Microsoft office products, and have a working knowledge of laboratory testing procedures. It is essential that you as an individual are organised, have good reporting writing skills, and an ability to meet deadlines.
