More jobs in retail are being created with figures showing an increase on last year, according to research.
Retail and wholesaling was the second best performing industry when it came to job creation this year revealed Adecco and Mandis.
Rene Schuster, CEO of Adecco Group UK and Ireland, told onrec.com: "Regional development plans around the UK are impacting multiple sectors including retail, support services and building and construction and we hope to see the benefits continue as the year progresses."
Over 14,000 retail jobs have become available this year largely thanks to supermarket expansion plans, with Asda announcing plans to create 22 new super stores and 9,000 jobs nationwide.
More than 4,000 new retail jobs will be created in Bristol when the Cabot Circus shopping development is completed towards September 2008, making Bristol one of the top ten best shopping destinations in the UK.
UK employment saw an overall rise of 40 per cent in job creation this year compared with 2007 statistics.
