Wednesday 14th May 2008 Those with IT jobs see rosy future

Pay is good and prospects are plentiful for the highly mobile IT workforce, according to results from a new survey.
A recent poll has found that while seven out of ten IT workers are confident that their pay will increase over this year, 90 per cent of workers expect to find work at another company within the next few years.
According to other research, from Loudhouse, the chief motivation for moving on is the hope for a better quality job - and by association, better pay.
The research firm reported that the average income of IT workers in the UK this year is £35,160, with most expecting a pay rise in the region of 4.5 per cent by year's end.
But for IT workers, the grass remains greener on the other, much farther, side as 65 per cent reported that they were actively looking for jobs abroad.
The confidence of workers believing they can easily find work elsewhere in the UK or overseas is underlined by concerns that there will be an impending shortage of skilled IT workers in the near future.
