Monday 16th June 2008 Luxury hotel generates jobs in Bolton

Hundreds of jobs will be created if plans for a new five-star hotel are accepted in Bolton, reports the Bolton News.
Up to 270 jobs will be generated if the proposal by Business Proficient for the Ormston Country Club project featuring a luxury, hotel, golf course, health spa, restaurants and banqueting hall is approved by Bolton council.
Shabbir Khilji chairman of Business Proficient told the Bolton News: "The country club will create 270 jobs in Bolton and good revenues for Bolton Council. If planning permission is granted, we will start work in November and have it ready for 2011, in time for the 2012 Olympic Games."
Business Proficient, a consortium of wealthy foreign investors, has paid £2 million for 70 acres of land near Horwich to develop the complex on.
A spokesman for Bolton Council told the newspaper: "It's always good to hear of new investment plans for Bolton. When the application comes in we will try and determine a decision within the 13 week period. As with all planning applications, we are required to consult the local community before a decision is taken."
The Ormston Country Club scheme is expected to cost around £30 million once completed.
