Monday 23rd June 2008 Insurance company creates jobs in finance

Hundreds of jobs in finance will be made available after an insurance company announced expansion plans, reports the Manchester Evening News. Up to 200 jobs in finance will be created in a period of five years after insurance firm Swinton Group announced it is aiming to increase the size of it commercial division through acquisitions. Swinton has already purchased companies such as Rockford, Vectis and AndInsure in 2007 which has contributed to an increase in revenues of 86 per cent for Swinton Commercial. By purchasing more companies in the coming years, Swinton hopes to double its workforce from 200 finance jobs to 400 jobs in finance. Carolyn Callan, head of Swinton Commercial, told the Manchester Evening News: "We will be looking to significantly expand our SME portfolio while increasing our share of higher premiums from both larger commercial clients and specialist sectors." With the new acquisitions Swinton is planning to be one of the UK's top ten commercial brokers.
