Thursday 26th June 2008 Insurance firm brings sales jobs to Halifax

Over a hundred jobs in sales will be created in Halifax after an insurance company announced expansion plans, reports the Halifax Evening Courier.
Insurance firm Swinton will generate a wide variety of jobs in sales with the majority being based at the Hebble Brook call centre in Mixenden as part of a national expansion project.
Swinton chief executive Patrick Smith told the Courier: "Our ambitious growth strategy, means we are looking to actually increase the number of jobs in Halifax, not reduce them."
While other UK insurers have announced redundancies because of the credit crunch, Swintons strategy is a signal that the insurance industry can overcome current economic uncertainty.
Speaking to the Courier, Halifax MP Linda Riordan, said: "This is good news for Mixenden. In these uncertain economic times, employers creating jobs for Halifax residents should be applauded."
Swinton already employs around 170 people in jobs in sales at the Hebble Brook call centre.
