Thursday 26th June 2008 IT jobs brought to Belfast

Jobs in IT will be available in Belfast when a telecommunications company sets up a centre of excellence in the city, it has been reported.
Up to 63 jobs in IT will be created by French-owned firm, Steria when it opens a centre dedicated to providing support and delivery assistance for the international Steria Group.
Economy Minister Arlene Foster said: "Once again our strong knowledge base, impressive ICT infrastructure and pool of IT graduates has attracted a global enterprise that recognises the contribution that the region can make to its growth and profitability."
Steria has been offered a £75,000 grant by Invest NI to help with the project and encourage further investment in the country's IT industry.
"There are over 700 companies in the ICT sector in Northern Ireland and of these more than 100 are international investors. Their success sends out a very clear message that Northern Ireland is an excellent place to invest," said Ms Foster.
Around 18,000 people are employed globally in jobs in IT by the Steria Group.
