Monday 30th June 2008 Welsh scheme to create 1000s of jobs

Thousands of jobs are expected to open up in Wales over the next few years following the launch of a new scheme.
The Welsh Assembly has unveiled the new South West Wales Flexible Business Finance Scheme which will help to give grants to businesses in the region.
It is hoped that the extra funding will help enterprises to grow and create employment opportunities across the board including jobs in sales, IT jobs and jobs in administration.
Officials have said that up to 2,000 firms will benefit from the scheme, each given up to £5,000 in extra funding to help them to develop.
Minister for the economy and transport Ieuan Wyn Jones told WalesOnline: "I am pleased to announce that this collaborative project has been approved for European funding and will lead the way in offering more support to businesses in South West Wales, meeting local needs and helping them to invest in development they would otherwise be reluctant to do.
"The convergence investment will further strengthen the economic base of this region, creating jobs, improving business competitiveness and bringing increased prosperity to people in Wales."
