Tuesday 1st July 2008 Supermarket brings retail jobs to the Midlands

Hundreds of jobs in retail will be created in the Midlands after a supermarket chain announced expansion plans, reports the Birmingham Mail.
Around 200 retail jobs will be generated by German supermarket company Aldi when it opens new stores in the Birmingham area in response to 'increased customer demand' for its low cost products.
Neil Hayes, store operations director, told the Birmingham Mail: "We are experiencing a rapid increase in sales at the moment due to shoppers' pursuit for value for money.
"It is because of this that we need to expand our staff base so we can continue to deliver the service that customers have come to expect from Aldi."
With new stores planned for Sheldon and Maypole, the majority of retail jobs on offer will range from store managers to store assistants but around 60 jobs in retail will go to the existing 24 stores in Birmingham.
Aldi currently employs over 600 people in retail jobs across 65 stores in the Midlands area.
