Tuesday 1st July 2008 Jobs to be created in NI by US investment

Hundreds of jobs are expected to be brought to Northern Ireland following a recent American investment conference, reports the Belfast Newsletter.
Jobs in IT and financial jobs will be created by the Invest NI conference between Northern Irish business and American investors with companies such as Citi, Liberty Mutual and Allstate already setting up operations in the province.
Andrea Haughian, Invest NI's vice president of business development, told the Belfast Newsletter: "Our focus is on higher level jobs so we see the main opportunities lying in financial services and ICT."
More jobs in finance and IT jobs are likely to be made available as American businesses see the advantages of operating in the Province.
"The conference highlighted that Northern Ireland is pro-business and pro-active in meeting the needs of international business - that is what US companies want to hear," Ms Haughian told the newspaper.
French-owned firm, Steria will create 63 jobs in IT when it opens a new call centre in Belfast, it has been reported.
