Tuesday 8th July 2008 Banking firm to bring financial jobs to Northern Ireland

Over 100 jobs in finance will be created in Belfast after a banking giant announced expansion plans, it has been reported.
Up to 145 financial jobs will be generated by Citi at its Northern Ireland base following the firm's decision to expand its operations in Belfast for the fourth time since establishing its Technology Centre of Excellence in 2004.
Citi spokeswoman Cathy Monro said: "The strength of the available skills base within Northern Ireland is backed by a strong educational system and has been borne out in our recruitment efforts over the past three years."
After the expansion plans are completed Citi will employ 850 people in jobs in finance in the city.
Economy minister Arlene Foster said: "Citi's continuing expansion in Northern Ireland is further evidence of the region's attractiveness to global financial services firms and it highlights the importance of Citi, and the wider sector, to our local economy."
Citi has been offered £2 million by Invest NI to fund the expansion initiative.
