Tuesday 8th July 2008 Investment to create engineering jobs in Oswestry

Hundreds of jobs in engineering could be created in Oswestry following funding from a renewable energy scheme, reports the Border Counties Advertizer.
Renewable energy projects that are in the planning stage in Oswestry's Rural Regeneration Zone (RRZ) have been given access to more than £750,000 of funding which could generate numerous jobs in engineering.
Peter Pawsey, executive chairman of the RRZ, told the Border Counties Advertizer: "This is all about giving communities the opportunity to drive the agenda. The idea is that they will then be able to re-invest part of their profits on delivering new projects."
Advantage West Midlands originally established the RRZ in order to combat rural issues and has created Co-operative FiRE, a development scheme aimed at funding green projects.
"We have seen real progress in all our main investment frameworks, which include ongoing plans for an Oswestry spoke of the Enterprise Centre Network," Mr Pawsey told the newspaper.
Advantage West Midlands has invested nearly £12 million throughout the RRZ in the previous year.
