Hundreds of IT jobs will be created in the West Midlands after an industry body outlined a strategy for the future, reports the Birmingham Post.
In a three-year plan, the West Midlands ICT Cluster has announced a proposal which would encourage greater partnership between academic organisations and business in the IT industry which would see more IT jobs brought to the West Midlands.
Mike Musson, ICT Cluster manager told the Birmingham Post: "By working with these educational establishments, as well as organisations like the National Computing Centre (NCC), Business Link and UKTI, we will be able to keep our future bright stars here in the region."
By working with small and medium businesses, the ICT Cluster hopes to discover a need for IT jobs and fill them with residents of the West Midlands.
"The West Midlands is regarded by the NCC as a forward thinking region, through initiatives such as Accredit UK, UK IT Association, iCentrum, RFID Centre and events such as the ICT Cluster Conference and regional awards," Mr Musson told the newspaper.
Development agency Advantage West Midlands is responsible for funding the West Midlands ICT Cluster.
