Monday 11th August 2008 Engineering jobs - Engineering jobs available in the north-east

Hundreds of jobs in engineering will be created in the Newcastle area after an electronics firm announced expansion plans, the Journal has reported.
Up to 170 engineering jobs will be generated by TRW Automotive after it unveiled plans to expand its operations due to increased demand for electronic car parts.
Steve Blenkinsop, TRW's financial controller, told the Journal: "There will be a steady climb in the number of employment opportunities that we'll have. It's all about developing new customers and building relationships."
TRW received a strategic finance initiative grant worth £1.25 million from One NorthEast in order to fund the expansion scheme.
Speaking to the Journal, One NorthEast's director of business and industry Ian Williams, said: "This substantial investment by TRW is great news for the area and for the wider north-east and proves that the economic regeneration of the north-east continues in spite of restraints caused by the credit crunch."
TRW currently employs nearly 800 people in both permanent and temporary jobs in engineering at its base in Peterlee.
