Friday 29th August 2008 Retail jobs - Retail jobs will be created by supermarket

Hundreds of jobs in retail will be made available if a proposal for a new supermarket in Gloucestershire is approved by planning officials, reports the Gloucestershire Echo. Up to 300 jobs in retail are expected to be created if plans for a new Tesco superstore on the Cinderford Rugby Club's Dockham Road site in Cinderford are accepted by Forest of Dean District Council. Local politicians hope the new Tesco, which will include a cafe, a petrol station and car park, will provide a boost to the local economy. Steve Kendall, the district council's group manager for economic development and property, told the Echo: "The application is most welcome and will help us in the regeneration of Cinderford." Any decision will be made within three months while if accepted, the store will be ready for 2010. A Tesco spokesman told the newspaper: "We're excited at the prospect of bringing a new food store to the town." Click here for retail jobs
