Disabled employees will benefit a business

Employers are being urged to recruit disabled workers as they can greatly benefit any business, claims the UK's leading provider of employment services for disabled people.

Remploy is aiming to support 20,000 disabled employees in the search for sustainable mainstream work by 2012 as they believe it will be positive for the UK industries.

According to Remploy, employers should appreciate the positive impact that employing people with disabilities and health conditions can bring to the workplace.

The majority of employers report the experience of employing disabled people as a very positive one and this should encourage others to recruit disabled employees, argues Remploy.

A spokesperson for Remploy said: "Opportunities are there – if supported with the right help and advice. Employers may be afraid of being politically incorrect or needing to make major adjustments."

Research by Social Firms revealed that there are an estimated 9.8 million people in the UK with some form of disability which equates to one in seven of the population.
