Hundreds of new administration jobs will be created when a new call centre for HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) opens in west Cumbria, it has been reported.
Around 350 jobs in administration are expected to be made available after HMRC announced it would open a new contact centre at west Cumbria House in Lillyhall.
Linda Maslen, head of HMRC contact centres, said: "This is very good news for the region. I am delighted that our new site will be here in west Cumbria, and I am really looking forward to working closely with my new team."
Successful candidates can expect a salary in the region of £15,000 from the new administration job.
West Cumbria Development Agency director Tim Hirst said: "This is excellent employment opportunity news and demonstrates the commitment by many parties to continue to improve the economic prospects for west Cumbria."
HMRC currently employees hundreds of people in administration jobs in 20 contact centres across the UK.
