Friday 12th September 2008 Retail jobs - Supermarket brings retail jobs to Wales

More jobs in retail will be created by Tesco if it gets approval to open a new store in Wrexham, the Evening Leader has reported. The retail giant claims it will make up to 140 jobs in retail available to job seekers if it is successful in its proposal for a new supermarket in Cefn Mawr, which will be built as part of an ongoing national expansion initiative. Felix Gummer, Tesco spokesperson, told the newspaper: "These are exciting plans for us. We announced our intentions yesterday to the community and started consulting businesses and key stakeholders in the area." Tesco expects the new express store will help regenerate the local economy and provide more retail jobs for the area. "We will submit an application following this process. We are very keen to create partnerships in the community and will be announcing detailed plans shortly with a community exhibition," Mr Gummer told the newspaper. Tesco took over German company Metro AG this year to become the world's third largest retail firm, according to reports. Click here for retail jobs
