Monday 6th October 2008 IT jobs - UK competitive in IT industry

There was good news for those looking for IT jobs in the UK as the country was named the third best in the world for IT competitiveness, a new study has suggested. Taking a range of different factors into account, such as the availability of IT jobs, Britain was ranked third out of 66 countries in research from the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). Issues such as the receptiveness to foreign trade, IT-related patents and broadband markets were considered in order to rank each of the countries. Denis McCauley, director of global technology research at the EIU, said: "Policymakers and business leaders need to address the full combination of factors that enable competitive IT industries. "Few countries can hope to build strong IT production sectors without strong business and legal environments, deep pools of talent, support for innovation, and the widespread use of technology throughout society." Taiwan and the US were the only countries to come higher than the UK in the rankings. Click here for IT jobs
