Dragons' Den star Peter Jones is to lead an academy that will help young adults learn the skills they need to get jobs in IT, according to reports. The self-made multi-millionaire is set to receive funding to open a National Skills Academy for Enterprise which will offer vocational courses to people aged between 16 and 19 to prepare them for positions in the UK workforce such as IT jobs. Mr Jones told the BBC: "The new National Academy for Enterprise will focus on developing enterprise and innovation skills to equip the next generation of young people with the skills and confidence they will need to succeed in the modern business world, whether as enterprising employees or starting their own businesses." Ministers are expected to approve the new academies and the government will pledge £30 million funding to the scheme. Skills secretary John Denham said: "Skills academies put employers in the driving seat to shape training for their industries, building the world-beating workforce that will improve productivity and competitiveness across the country." Mr Jones founded Phones International Group in 1998. Click here for IT jobs
