Tuesday 14th October 2008 IT jobs - Demand remains for IT jobs

There is still a strong demand for jobs in IT despite the current economic climate, according to a new study. The Yoh Index of Technology Wages showed strong salary increases for the third quarter of 2008, with those in IT jobs reporting a 5.79 per cent interannual rise in September. Demand for IT workers in both the UK and the global market was also predicted to continue its boom and register growth rates between six and ten per cent at the start of 2009. The news came after an Access Markets International Partners report recently revealed an eight per cent rise in spending on IT services by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) over 2008. Jim Lanzalotto, vice president of strategy and marketing for Yoh, said: "These are the good old days for IT, engineering, clinical research and scientific markets, and pay growth this quarter is certainly a testament to that. "Wage growth is strong, demand is increasing due to rapid advancements in technologies, and all leading indicators point to increased hiring in coming months." He added that while the outlook was positive for IT jobs, the industry still needed to consider the effects of the global economic downturn. Click here for IT jobs
