Thursday 16th October 2008 Best graduates 'earn more money'

Graduates who have attended the UK's top universities are likely to earn significantly more money during their career, a new study has found. According to the London School of Economics (LSE), university degrees in general boost earning power, but this increases again for graduates of the best 25 universities, the Guardian reports. Iftikhar Hussain, Sandra McNally and Shqiponja Telhaj from the LSE's centre for economic performance commented in their research that the extra money expected in earnings should be reflected in the amount students pay towards their education. "A university degree significantly raises the earnings of graduates, especially those from the best universities," the report stated. "So those who go to the top universities should be prepared to contribute more towards the cost of their education than most students." A new list of the top 100 graduate employers in the UK has included Shell at nine, which offers over 300 engineering jobs to graduates annually. Click here for engineering jobs
