Thursday 6th November 2008 Construction jobs Leeds Airport announces expansion plans

Thousands of jobs are set to be created now that Leeds/Bradford Airport has revealed expansion plans.
Up to 3,000 positions could open up at the travel hub including administration jobs and jobs in engineering.
More than £70 million will be splashed on the airport over the next five years including an £28 million extension to the current terminal building.
"We will be creating modern, spacious and service focused facilities designed to make the airport easy and convenient to use," said Leeds/Bradford Airport chief executive, John Parkin.
"The terminal proposals will also deliver impressive new facilities which will integrate with the existing building sympathetically in scale and design."
Other new features set to be built at the travel gateway include a departure lounge with a central seating area and improvements to the domestic baggage reclaim hall.
Meanwhile, concerns have been raised over job losses at Manchester Airport after Bmi announced plans to stop long-haul flights from the hub next year.
