Friday 7th November 2008 Retail jobs - Good body language 'essential' for job hunters

Candidates hoping for jobs in retail are being advised that good body language in an interview can go a long way towards helping clinch the position.
Body language expert Judi James said that it is vital to prepare for a meeting with a potential employer - which includes rehearsing standing and sitting positions.
"We don't normally walk into a room full of strangers and talk about how wonderful we for 30 minutes
..therefore we will need to use performance body language," Ms James said.
She added: "You will need to beef up the eye contact a bit because most interviewers will see it as a sign of confidence, but don't over do it."
A poll by eye experts Optrex revealed that 74 per cent of people think eye contact is a very important part of communication.
The company recently unveiled its new New Optrex ActiMist Eye Spray which can be used by job seekers to freshen up their eyes before an interview.
