Tuesday 11th November 2008 Retail jobs - Retail jobs come to York

Job seekers in the north received an early Christmas present with the news that retail jobs will become available in York, reports the York Press.
Up to 12 retail jobs have been created in York following the announcement that a new White Stuff store is to be built in the city.
Staff for the new jobs in retail will be needed by the clothing company to run the shop when it opens its doors to the public in February 2009.
Andrew Hedley, a retail property specialist at Blacks Property Consultants, which marketed the premises, told the newspaper: "White Stuff was one of a number of major names interested in the unit and it's great to have another multi branch retailer on our streets.
"It is a very successful company and one making a major investment in the city you do not fit out a unit of this size for a few hundred pounds."
David Kern, economic advisor for the British Chamber of Commerce, said that retail jobs will be created this Christmas as people will still buy presents for the festive season despite the credit crunch.
