Thursday 27th November 2008 Sales jobs - The Apprentice is 'not good for sales jobs'

Reality television programme the Apprentice will not encourage people to get jobs in sales as it is not representative of the industry, according to the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC).
John Dunsmure, managing director of the BCC, said that those looking for employment would not be impressed with the quality of contestant on the Apprentice so would be unlikely to want to find sales jobs.
"The Apprentice is the worst and I don't think anyone would want to work for Sir Alan Sugar. Some of the candidates they have had wouldn't get onto X Factor let alone anything else," he said.
Mr Dunsmure went on to say that rival programme Dragon's Den may explain some aspects of business but would also not encourage people to get jobs.
"Dragon's Den is quite clever in the way it helps people identify what they are trying to do. I wouldn't say it would drive people into business but it can make them think more about it," he added.
Research for Dell, carried out by Tickbox.net/Opinion Matters, revealed that 44 per cent of people go to the internet for business advice.
