Wednesday 31st December 2008 Job seekers should have CVs 'that stand out'

Job seekers will be more successful in their search for employment if they have a CV which is tailored to the position they are applying for, according to Onrec.com.
David Hurst, managing director of the organisation, said that when uploading a CV online it is important that applicants incorporate as many key words that are relevant to the job as possible as many employers use software to filter candidates.
"People should think about where they are applying and tailor their CV accordingly," he said.
Mr Hurst went on to say that it is very important for job seekers to think about the skills and qualifications they have and highlight them so that they stand out against other applicants.
"Some sites will allow you to prepare different CVs for different roles so you can use their site for the basis for building your CV," he added.
A study by market research company GfK NOP found that 17 per cent of UK employees intend to leave their current position as soon as the opportunity arises.
