Thursday 15th January 2009 Engineering jobs - Broadband improvements 'could create' engineering jobs

New engineering jobs could be created as part of ongoing plans to improve the speed of home broadband connections, it has been revealed.
Online marketing specialists UK Web Media said that most people who signed up to a broadband package knew they wouldn't receive the advertised speed, but that they still expected a service that allowed them to satisfy their online requirements.
Commenting on broadband speeds, Thomas Newton, lead content writer for UK Web Media, said that people expected their connection to be able to handle the "bare minimum".
"If these expectations can't be met, due to reasons of speed, line quality, or having exceeded an unspecified usage limit, then people are going to feel frustrated and ultimately short-changed by the service they're paying for," he said.
A number of improvement works will be undertaken as demand for an improved service increases in the near-future, which spells good news for those looking for jobs in engineering.
Industry regulator Ofcom recently launched its Broadband speed code, which allows consumers to access more information about their broadband speed.
