Wednesday 21st January 2009 Engineering jobs - Scottish energy firm confirms jobs creation

More than 200 new engineering jobs are expected to be created as a Scottish firm benefits from the continued growth of the global oil and gas industry.
Global Energy Group, which is located in Aberdeen, already employs 2,600 people across its subsidiaries, which all work to supply services to both traditional oil and gas companies as well as the emerging green sector, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reports.
Now, with annual turnover expected to top £130 million, chairman Roy MacGregor has indicated that a number of new engineering jobs are to be created across sites including Aberdeen, Invergordon and Evanton as the company launches a new corporate branding initiative.
"This new branding will help us stand out in the market place and the message behind it is that we stand together," Mr MacGregor told the newspaper.
According to the Press and Journal, a number of new positions north of the border are also set to be created after the company recently secured five new fabrication and engineering contracts.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Scotland is set to enjoy a construction jobs boom as plans to build a number of new roads have been given the green light by the government.
