Wednesday 21st January 2009 Retail jobs - supermarket chain announces recruitment drive for 2009

Hundreds of graduate retail jobs look set to be created right across the UK as budget supermarket Aldi launches a new recruitment drive.
According to recent reports, low-cost food retailers are currently enjoying healthy sales as the tough economic climate prompts millions of British consumers to "trade down" on their weekly grocery shopping.
As such, Aldi has announced that it is to increase the number of graduates it takes on by 50 per cent over the course of 2009, with regional managing director Dan Ronald confident that a combination of a competitive salary and a "comprehensive" training scheme will help the firm attract the brightest talent.
"Being able to offer such an attractive starting package to 50 per cent more university leavers is fantastic and fundamental to the continued growth of Aldi," he concluded.
At the same time, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) has predicted that the online retail recruitment market will continue to grow as the sector benefits from greater frugality among consumers.
