Monday 26th January 2009 Engineering jobs - Engineering academy opens

E.ON's new Engineering Academy has been officially opened in Nottinghamshire by skills secretary John Denham, the energy company has confirmed. The academy has been opened to address the skills shortage that exists in the UK's power and engineering industry and is designed to attract applicants from across the sector. Commenting on its opening, Paul Golby, E.ON UK's chief executive, said the academy would offer "training, qualifications and career development" to a number of people looking to enter engineering jobs. "We are investing billions of pounds in our industry which will help boost the UK economy and ensure we have the right people with the right skills for a sustainable mix of energy resources," he said. The academy will offer a number of courses, from entry-level foundation degrees to technical and operational training. E.ON announced earlier this month that it had received planning permission from Highland Council to build its largest ever onshore wind farm. Click here to search for engineering jobs
