Thursday 29th January 2009 Council sues former employee over CV

Cheltenham Borough Council has taken one of its former managing directors to court for £1 million over alleged discrepancies in her CV.
The council has claimed Christine Laird lied about her medical history when she accepted a post in 2002.
The authority claims she failed to disclose she suffered from depression and accused Ms Laird of "fraudulent or negligent misrepresentation".
Ms Laird had said she was in good health when she answered official questions about her medical history.
Business guru Alan Sugar courted controversy last year after hiring Lee McQueen, a contestant from the BBC TV show The Apprentice.
Mr McQueen admitted to lying on his CV when explaining his university achievement, which was overlooked by Sir Alan in a move that upset employment professionals.
Kevin Green, chief executive of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, said he thought it sent a "poor message to employers".
Mr Green noted: "I think a lot of people embellish their CVs but there is a difference between being a little bit creative and making something up."
