Wednesday 30th April 2008 £80m development bringing Boston 'retail revolution'

A Lincolnshire town could soon be at the forefront of retail job creation as property developers spell out plans for a big money regeneration project.
The Boston Standard reports that the Modus Group is holding a third exhibition for its £80 million plans to revamp a ten acre space in the centre of Boston and create some 1,200 in the process.
Part of the proposed site is under the ownership of the local Borough Council, requiring the firm to secure development agreements as it progresses its plans for what is now called the Merchants Quay development, lying between West Street and the River Haven.
Modus director Stephen Flood told the Boston Standard: "They are predicting that with this kind of investment Boston will go into the top 200 retail towns in the country, and that is significant.
"We wouldn't be investing if we weren't confident. We are looking at around £80 million being invested in a three-year period."
Preliminary talks with retailers who could make use of the new development are said to have been positive.
