National Minimum Wage
Is all your hard work paying off? The national minimum wage has been established to ensure that no matter what your current situation, you have the right to a fair wage. There are three levels to the minimum wage, dependant on your age:
- £6.08 per hour (aged 21 years and older)
- £4.98 per hour (aged 18-20 inclusive)
- £3.68 per hour (under the age of 18)
- £2.60 per hour (apprentices aged under 19 or first year of apprenticeship)
If you are not receiving the national minimum wage you can call the Inland Revenue's confidential helpline on 0845 6000 678. They promise that all complaints made to the helpline will be followed up and that they will respect any wish to remain anonymous.
