Role: Project Manager - Business System Operations
Salary: £34,000 - £50,000
Location: Preston
A leading Defence Organisation is looking for a Project Manager to work with the International managers to ensure that the major business systems, including IFS, SAP, Doors, Predict, and SHAPE are supported and developed to fulfil both the existing and emerging needs of the business, and to ensure that the service provider(s) deliver value-for-money services.
Responsibilities for this role will include:
· Governance and delivery of an effective system change control process, and undertake initial assessments as to the feasibility of system change requests.
· Overall management and delivery of approved system change notes, including configuration control and release management, and ensure compliance to life cycle management processes
· Manage the implementation and delivery of system upgrades, and identify any business improvement opportunities through system enhancements
· Manage the transition of new business system solutions from development into production, and be accountable for the budgets associated with system change requests. Additionally to ensure that support charges present value-for-money services.
· Work closely with other business groups and seek opportunities that align and prioritise the development of the business systems.
· Ensure the infrastructure solutions delivering the business systems are supported and upgraded to provide a resilient and stable environment. Identification of service delivery black spots and effective resolution of any service faults, and provide proactive communication of service management related information, including agreeing service outages, with key stakeholders.
· Establish and maintain service level agreements, and management of the service provider(s) supporting the business systems to ensure that service performance and availability are in line with contracted SLAs.
The successful candidate will bring to the role an expert level in project management skills, and be able to build effective working relationships and communicate/influence people at all levels within and across the business. He/she should have knowledge in the application of lifecycle management processes, and possess the ability to diagnose problems and rapidly put corrective actions in place. Knowledge of supply chain or business system operations would be beneficial.
The role presents a variety of challenges in governance/management, process & systems development, reporting, and customer/supplier management.
