Leading Petrochemical Refinery - Oil and Systems Accountant - Essex



Description


Our client is a global energy group operating from more than 100 countries worldwide. Their branding and reputation is respected throughout the world as the serve on average 13 million customers every day. They have a new position for a qualified Accountant to be responsible for financial and statutory reporting of all aspects of the local refinery operation and ensuring compliance with internal control requirements and IFRS.


Job Requirements


*Responsible for the timely reconciliation and analysis of a series of balance sheet accounts *Proactively review the existing controls framework, recommending improvements where required *Report on the refinery’s monthly hydrocarbon loss and develop specific MI controls as appropriate *Provide incremental process and systems improvements in all accounting areas *Act as lead business analyst for 2 key oil accounting / HMRC systems projects *Take full ownership of several smaller-scale financial reporting improvement projects *Supporting the implementation and delivery of the oil accounting and measurement improvement elements of the refinery’s hydrocarbon loss reduction plan *Review and support the daily/monthly reporting activities of the Refinery Oil Stock Clerk / Bulk Terminal Oil Accounting Team *Responsible for the day to day operation of AUC and the Fixed Asset ledger


Details


Accountants interested to this position should be qualified (or part-qualified) ACCA, ACA, or CIMA with experience of accounting for the Oil/Refinery/Process or Manufacturing Industries. Ideally you will have working knowledge of Customs Legislations governing the movement of raw materials and the payment and reclamation of Excise Duty and VAT. Interpersonally you should be a confident, articulate communicator with a proven track record of driving through systems and procedural changes for the improvement of the business. Knowledge of Oracle and or VBA preferred.
