Our client are a market leader in retail gaming operations with a superb new opportunity for a Risk and Insurance Manager.


Job Description:

Purpose of Role:

• To provide a value-added Risk and Insurance service to the business which mitigates the Company’s overall risk profile.
• Promote and enhance the concept of risk management (Insurable and non-insurable / Insurance discounted) to embed the matrix management of risks.
• To develop and manage the Business Continuity Plan.

Department Description:

• The Propriety Department is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve the organisation’s operations. In addition the department is responsible for assuring customer protection and investigating customer complaints. This includes Internal Audit, Risk & Insurance and Security Operations.

Team Description:

• The Risk & Insurance team is responsible for facilitating effective risk management and business continuity planning. In addition it secures appropriate insurances cover for the operational activities of the business.

Key Accountabilities or Duties:

• Work with the Head of Propriety to derive an annual business plan for the function.
• Develop and apply sound risk assessment principles and methods taking into account business diversity.
• Promote the value of effectively managing business risk and insurances.
• Champion the value of effectively managing business risk and insurances.
• Review company-wide risk register and mitigating controls, monitoring proposed treatments and progress.
• Accountable for the strategic development and implementation of the Business Continuity Plan.
• Advise the Business Assurance, Commercial and IT Audit Managers on perceived audit needs and control weaknesses, feed the results of audit reviews into Risk Mitigation Plans and produce Audit, Risk & Security Committee activity reports.
• Produce Risk Mitigation Plans for Risk Management Committee Meetings and Audit, Risk & Security Committee review and report on the department’s activities to communicate progress.
• Set standards to ensure the integrity of the company risk management database and ensure that risk information is up to date and available.
• Review and communicate the company’s portfolio of insurances, cover, limitations and excesses and liaise with the business to ensure insurance is provided / considered when appropriate, identifying the most appropriate brokers and insurers.
• Review insurance claims trend analysis and design control improvements to minimise trends.
• Manage and regularly reassess the Company’s Business Continuity Plan and IT Disaster Recovery plan, and ensure that they are fit for purpose.
• Conduct annual Business Impact Analysis of Business Critical Activities and identify required actions, initiatives and improvements.
• Manage relationships with 3rd party suppliers, negotiating terms and conditions, service costs and agreeing and managing supplier performance including KPIs and SLAs.
• Prepare reports and MI related to business insurances, risk management for the Head of Propriety detailing the department’s activities.
• Keep directors informed and alert to insurance and risk management issues.

Skills & Experience:

• Audit and Risk management qualifications and experience (which may encompass business administration, audit, finance, Corporate Governance, Risk Management, IT, BCP / DRP, QA, security and project management)
• Ability to write reports to communicate findings and propose solutions
• Appreciation of the methodology required to convert the Enterprise Risk Assessor database / Insurance information into transferable knowledge
• Able to lead strategy and deliver the corporate governance agenda
• Able to manage the diversity of risks and insurance placements required
• Proven track record of building senior internal and external relationships.
• Demonstrable ability to drive the corporate strategy and be able to make decisions over significant areas of spend (£1m+)
